Hungarian School Sport Federation is the only national sport federation in children and school sport.

Our mission is

…to motivate children to regularly be physically active in order to become healthy and happy adults.

…to help creating health-conscious social culture, foster being conscious about the positive effects of regular physical activity and increasing the commitment to movement.

…to endorse the fulfilment of fun and joyful PE lessons, to foster increasing the prestige of the PE class and to increase the appreciation of the work done by PE teachers.

…to contribute to the professional academic results of PE and their practical utilization through our thorough and active research and development activity.

Achievements

We developed and have been operating the Hungarian National Student Fitness Test (NETFIT®), the health-related, standardized fitness assessment system used in the Hungarian public education system since 2015. NETFIT® accumulates a comprehensive database about the fitness status of almost 700 000 students annually.

We set up a unique collection of PE methodological know how center for teachers working in PE and school sport including digital and printed contents. Since 2013 we have transferred didactics of quality physical education and grassroots sport to more than 18 000 teachers through our accredited, in-service trainings.

We have expanded and enlarged the Hungarian School Sport Day into an initiative reaching beyond Europe’s borders being implemented in 40 countries, getting almost 2 million students on the move and achieved to turn it into an official theme day in Hungary, which took place in 40 countries in 2020 with 2 million participants.

We have been operating the Student Olympics since 1987, the biggest school sport competition in Hungary, involving 150 000 students in annually.
