Young sportsmen meeting in the Carpathian Basin

Mr Gábor Balogh, President of the Hungarian School Sport Federation was the patron of the large-scale football tournament organized for the fifth time in the city of Sárospatak, Hungary. The main objective of the event is to connect young Hungarians living within and outside Hungary and to promote health-enhancing physical activity and sport. The participating teams represented the Hungarian communities living in Transylvania (Romania), the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina (Serbia), Subcarpathia (Ukraine) and Slovakia. Although the event was held on the weekend of December 6-7th, 2014, the teams arrived already on Friday to the Kossuth dormitory of the Reformed College of Sárospatak. The athletes, born in 1997 or after, step onto the field of the sports hall of the Árpád Vezér College on Sunday. The teams were divided in two groups of four; the teams played one another in rotation to decide who will participate in the finals. Finally, the team of Dunaszerdahely (Slovakia) defeated the team of Karcag (Hungary) and won the trophy. The prizes were awarded by Mr József Nemes, CEO of Extractum Pharma Corporation, Mr Balázs Antal, Chairman of the Board at Extractum Pharma Corporation, Mr János Aros, Mayor of Sárospatak as well as Mr Tibor Ács, Managing Director of Dominique Carpenter Ltd. The organizers prepared also with several side events to delight the teams, their leaders and the large number of spectators. Among others, the cheerleaders of the cultural and sport association of Sárospatak (PLASZTIK Association) and the young folk dancers of the Elementary Artistic School of Sárospatak performed on stage, while the field was later occupied by the senior football of Sárospatak and the Carpathian selected team.
