Study visit in Ireland – exploring the Active School Flag program

Thanks to the ERASMUS+ Mobility of staff in the field of sport programme, two of our colleagues visited Ireland on a study visit. In the framework of our MOVEX project, supported by the European Union, our colleagues were hosted by the Mayo Education Centre in Dublin between 29 April and 2 May 2024.  

The study tour gave our colleagues the opportunity to learn about the Irish Active School Flag programme, an initiative similar to the HSSF’s Active School programme. They visited several local schools during the study visit and gained an insight into the implementation of Active School Week. They saw many best practices of how to create a positive educational environment for pupils in schools, how a team of pupils working within the programme can encourage their peers to be physically active, and how the environment can motivate school age pupils to be active. These experiences provide great inspiration for further developing the Active School programme. The study visit also laid the foundations for further cooperation with the organisation, and we hope to have the opportunity to organise inspiring study visits to Ireland for teachers from Hungarian Active Schools in the future. 

In addition to establishing personal contacts and future cooperation opportunities, the visit also contributed to deepening professional knowledge of HSSF’s colleagues, gathering new perspectives and ideas, and strengthening their international professional connections.
