HUNGARY TESTS WITH NETFIT®

The introduction of NETFIT® (National Student Fitness Test) has again arrived to a new milestone. On the 27th of October 2014, the Hungarian Gazette published the amendment of Decree of Ministry of Human Capacities (No. 20/2012 of 31 August), designating NETFIT® as fitness assessment system of Hungarian youth and defining the frame of its content.

Thanks to the above, PE teachers will now apply the NETFIT® system in each involved school to measure the fitness level of students during the measurement period from 5 January 2015 to 27 May 2015.

For the first time in Hungary, the NETFIT® elaborated by Hungarian School Sport Federation offers a modern, health-oriented, complex and science-based solution for student fitness level measurement. The newly introducing pedagogical instrument aims to achieve, maintain and develop the fitness level necessary for optimal health, through increasing the physical activity of the students. The NETFIT® primarily measures and tracks the students’ physical fitness level from a diagnostic perspective based on the manual released for public education institutes.

The NETFIT® will not arrive to the schools without any preparation: Hungarian School Sport Federation has organized an accredited and free of charge in service training of 30 hours for 7100 teachers introducing the application of the new fitness level test and further updates on methodology. The related technical instrument kits were also delivered for 3600 institutions for free.

The software developed in collaboration with the Cooper Institute, Texas, USA, is an important element of the introducing system. Recording the results, individual evaluation and the feedback itself are guarantees for the future progress, because it is explored whether the child belongs to the healthy fitness zone, to the zone where the child’s fitness level needs to be developed, or to the zone where special development is necessary.

In the individual analyzis we make recommendations how the student activity and fitness level test results can be maintained or developed. For the first time, the interest of teachers, parents and students may be harmonized with this integrated tool, because data are easily available for all three target groups.

By that, the system is suitable for individual positive feedback and attitude forming as well.
