The European Commission has recently published the list of selected Erasmus+ projects for the programme period starting in January 2016. Hungarian School Sport Federation will be contributing two of the newly selected projects, which aim at strengthening the relations between sport sector, school and public education system.

Activity Square Europe – coordinated by Fit Sport Austria and including 13 organizations from 10 different countries, aspires to encourage sport organizations to create network and joint programmes with schools at national and international level. The project is more though than the exchange of experiences and transferring good practices, since it fundamentally targets the establishment of a common standard for cross-sectoral cooperation of sport- and public education. Based on the existing initiations and the potential programs, the project aims at creating a reference frame which allows the evaluation and analysis of such cooperations. By that, the system shall contribute to the development of sport programmes, draw good practices for financing as well as contain practical advice for sustainability. The best initiations for cooperation between sport and public education sector will be awarded by a new recognition which will be created in the frame of Activity Square Europe. For the three year project, HSSF undertook the hosting of expert workshops as well as took a leading role in developing the reference frame, which will be applicable for analysing the utilization rate of existing practices and specifying the standards.

The implementation of the second project, Active School Communities will also be launched on 1st January 2016 and the coordinator will be BG BE Active Association from Bulgaria. BG BE Active will be joined by organizations like Sport and Citizenship, as well as HSSF’s strategic international partners, International Sport and Culture Association (ISCA), European Physical Education Association (EUPEA), and Youth Sport Trust from United Kingdom.

The project aims at supporting community sport organizations and local sport associations in order to promote healthy lifestyle and movement, through building network with elementary schools and further stakeholders at local level. As a result of the project, the sport associations will receive a toolkit which will help them to build local relations and professional network and to use their capacities (financial or infrastructural) more efficiently, together with the schools and municipalities. The project also develops a so called self-assessment instrument, which is applicable for the local sport associations to evaluate their current capacities and network building potentials by filling a questionnaire.

During the two-year project, HSSF will take the role of developing the toolkit and self-assessment instrument and will lead the trainings preparing for their application for the partners.
