Heves County Council signs cooperation agreement with the Hungarian School Sport Federation

The cooperation agreement signed in the city of Eger by Mr Balázs Rádics, managing director of the Hungarian School Sport Federation (HSSF) and Mr Róbert Szabó, president of the Heves County General Assembly focuses on the increase of physical activity, on health development and on the involvement in sport activities of students living in Heves County, thus enhancing community and professional relations between the parties.

The beneficiary of the agreement is the Heves County School Sport and Recreational Sport Association, member of HSSF, which has already been supported by the Heves County Council during the last two years in the organization of different sport events and in the awarding of the winners of the Diákolimpia® (Student Olympics) living in Heves County. The Heves County Council provides premises to the Heves County School Sport Council as well.

By signing the cooperation agreement, Heves County becomes the second county after Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg to support the school sport movement on a voluntary basis. During the press conference, Mr Szabó emphasized that “supporting school sport is the priority objective of the sport decree of the Heves County General Assembly, as it is very important to educate future generations to healthy lifestyle. We will continue to support the activity of the Heves County School Sport and Recreational Sport Association as much as we can. We are very proud to announce that Heves County was ranked the 6th most successful county accoring to the county-level results of the Diákolimpia® and that the Kemény Ferenc School Sport and Elementary School of Eger was the most successful school participating at the Diákolimpia® in the school year 2013/2014. The Hunyadi Mátyás was ranked 5th. We are confident that the cooperation agreement will continue to strengthen the school sport movement in Heves County and that more and more talented young sportsmen will engage in sport activities.”

Mr Szabó handed to Mr Csaba Bíró, president of the Heves County School Sport and Recreational Sport Association, a laptop as a token of their support.

Mr Balázs Rádics, managing director of HSSF, also praised the work of the Heves County School Sport and Recreational Sport Association and highlighted that HSSF and the Heves County School Sport and Recreational Sport Association are also discussing the opportunity of close cooperation with EU member states.

At the end of the press conference Mr Csaba Bíró, president of the Heves County School Sport and Recreational Sport Association, announced that the Association obtained the opportunity to organize the joint Ball Games Student Olympics in 2015. The national finals will take place between June 13-16th, 2015 with the participation of approximately 1,000 students, competing in 12 premises in the city of Eger.

The Hungarian School Sport Federation is organizing for the 28th time the Diákolimpia® competition in school year 2014/2015. The Diákolimpia® is a unique talent promoting and competition system that assembles every year around 270,000 students from elementary and secondary schools.
