HEALTH CENTERED PHYSICAL EDUCATION IS BECOMING ESSENTIAL – HSSF CLOSES FIRST ERASMUS+ PROJECT

TSD_8495

Hungarian School Sport Federation closed its first Erasmus+ program, elaborating a recommendation which aims at contributing to curricula developments at European level in the field of quality physical education and establishing a new key competence framework connected to school P.E. and healthy lifestyle.

During the project, 6 countries (Luxemburg, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Slovenia, Lithuania) were examined in terms of education system, national curricula and the competence-based education practices, particularly physical education practices.

Complying with the European Qualification Framework, the Erasmus+ consortium elaborated the minimum requirement system described in the form of learning outcomes for physical education curricula.

The established framework will also provide a ground for supervision of Hungarian national core curriculum, since HSSF received the mandate to elaborate recommendations for the school P.E. and sport-related contents of new Hungarian core curricula in the frame of the project No. EFOP-3.2.8, in harmony with the T.E.S.I. 2020 strategy.

In the SHAPE project, we have also elaborated with our Erasmus+ partners the content of a new, health-centered, future-oriented life-management key competence (HCFOLM). Our goal is to draw attention, in Hungary and also at European level, to the fact that ensuring healthy, physically active labor force is one of the biggest challenges of the 21st century.

We are delighted to welcome the attention of European Commission and the Council in this regard, which is shown by the fact that HSSF has been invited as expert to prepare a recommendation to revise the former key competence reference framework of 2006. In addition, we hope that this recommendation will also earn a positive reception in Hungary, and will be able to contribute to the new national curricula as well.

The professional content has been prepared in cooperation with European Physical Education Association (EUPEA), the leading umbrella organization of European physical education.
