GEM project – meeting in Bosnia
The first personal meeting of the GEM project (Grassroots Exchange and Mobility – Empowering Youth Sport Professionals) took place in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, from 29.04.2022 to 02.05.2022.
10 organisations were represented at the meeting (Hungarian School Sports Federation, Youth Sport Trust International, ISCA, EUPEA, Albanian School Sports Federation, Federata Shqiptare e Sportit Shkollor, Federation of sport pedagogues of Macedonia, Federation of sport pedagogues of Macedonia, Serbian School Sport Federation, Deporte para la Education y la Salud, Together Advancing Common Trust).
On the first day of the meeting, Franjo Lovrić, President of Zdrav život – KINEZIS welcomed the participants to the Let’s kids run conference. In the framework of the conference five lecture were presented on different topics related to the three dimensions of the project.
With the title of „The irreplaceable role of physical activity”, Ivana Kujundžić Lujan gave a presentation. Based on a scientific research she introduced the amount of physical activity among youth and adults in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Dženan Šuta, President of the Mostar City Sports Association, gave a presentation on „School sports in the city of Mostar”, followed by Vivenne Holt, International Operations Manager of Youth Sport Trust International, who spoke about “Importance and models of application of fundamental motor knowledge”. Xheni Dimraj, representative of the Albanian School Sports Federation, shared good practices on training of kindergarten teachers with the audience. The Let’s kids run conference ended with a presentation by Dr Claude Scheuer, President of the European Association for Physical Education (EUPEA), who presented their association’s „Erasmus+ projects in the field of physical education and physical activity”.
In the afternoon, the partners were given an insight into volunteering, as the „Let kids run” event took place in Mostar, with 350 children taking part in an outdoor running race.
Sunday’s programme was also about experiencing volunteering in practice. The partners took part in the „Du motion” half marathon race in Dubrovnik as volunteers.
The two-day professional programme provided an opportunity for both formal and informal exchanges, partners returned home with many new experiences.
The next GEM meeting will take place in Madrid, 23-26 May 2022.
