Cross-country World schools championship – the rabbit in the finals of student olympics®

On 5 April, 2016, the National Final of the Cross-Country Student Olympics has been organized in Gödöllő.

The Pest County School Sport Federation welcomed the best national student runners for the 19th time at the Gödöllő Airport. Almost 2500 students competed in 5 different age groups.

This year, the competition had a special reward, as the winner teams of the 5th age group also won the chance to participate in the ISF World Schools Championship which will be organized between 21-26 on Margaret Island. In line with almost 400 participants from 25 countries, we hope the local teams will be able to achieve great results with the support of the Hungarian audience.

Next to school teams, the national student team will also represent Hungary at the World School Championship. The members of the national team were selected based on competition results from 2016 and also based on the results of the Student Olympics® national finals. Students born between1998 and 2001 could compete for the opportunity to join the girls’ and boys’ team of 6-6 persons.

In the World School Championship, the school team of girls will be represented by János Bolyai High School from Salgótarján and the school team of boys arrives from Saint Stephen High School from Budapest, next to the Hungarian national teams.
