The role and importance of Physical Literacy (science and practice) – European and global perspectives
15 November 2018, 11:20 – 11:45

Physical literacy has been described as a ‘longed for concept’ and has in turn gained much interest worldwide. This interest has also given rise for calls for physical literacy to be operationalized, providing clarity and guidance on developing physical literacy informed practice. Operationalizing physical literacy is crucial in moving the concept forwards in a range of sectors including health, education, sport and recreation by providing substance to the claims made by (physical literacy) advocates (Durden-Myers and Whitehead, 2018). This presentation aims to highlight the growing interest and developments in physical literacy from across the globe and describe how the International Physical Literacy Association is supporting and reporting upon global developments.
