Active schools, active learning – the possibilities of formal and non-formal learning environments in active school settings
15 November, 13:10–13:35

Physical activity is an integral part of human existence. Correspondingly, the bodily functions of the human organism are designed so that man moves regularly and sufficiently. If this does not happen, the bodily functions degenerate and the person becomes ill sooner or later in his life. This challenge, summarized under the term ‘lack of exercise’, is now being discussed worldwide.

In this context, the question is raised, which task the school has to ensure that children have enough exercise time in everyday school life. An ‘active school’ is required, which allows the adolescents a movement time of at least 60 minutes per day in the school setting according to WHO recommendations. Recent studies show that this not only has a positive impact on children’s health but also positively impacts their learning in the academic disciplines. The presentation is dedicated to these connections and empirical findings.
