The Hungarian Parliament unanimously passed a decision to recognise the last Friday of each September as the ‘Hungarian School Sport Day’. “The different parliamentary groups have reached an unprecedented consensus on this important issue” – said Mrs. Dóra Dúró, president of the Commission of Culture who also highlighted: “By this decision, the parties of the national assembly have expressed the importance of sport in our lives and have demonstrated their commitment for the future generations”.
On behalf of the Hungarian School Sport Federation, president Mr. Gábor Balogh addressed sthe press conference. “We are very proud that this initiative was adopted by European countries. Last year we not only celebrated Hungarian School Sport Day in 1000 schools and with the participation of 250 000 pupils but also witnessed the most successful European School Sport Day so far together with two million participants from 26 countries.”
The Hungarian Schools Sport Day, which inspired the pan-European initiative of European School Sport Day once again was recognised by the highest authority of the Hungarian state. We hope that this important step will be followed by further recognitions of the schools port day in other European states.
